Honda eu2000i hard start when cold

When the weather is cold,approaching freezing and just below, my generator is hard to start. Well really it starts quickly but shuts down after a few seconds for a low oil warning. The oil is not low. Sometimes I have to start it 3 times before it will stay going. Is this normal?

They come stock with a 10w-30 oil in them. In near freezing to freezing temps you may want to use a 5w-30. Its shutting down on you cuz the oil is too thick to get everything lubed up and thinks its low on oil. 3 times started to run = warmed up enough to flow a little more.

I had the same problem. I would just restarting the generator 2 or 3 time, then it would stay running. A bit of a pain, but was wort it.

My Yamaha 2000 has to come inside to start when its cold inside! At least the Honda tries!
