2000 should run a 5000 BTU ac unit, but will lag at startup and overload if anything else is running. 3000 will work fine and not be working hard.
my 2000i runs a 5000 BTU window unit in my slide in truck camper, but really struggles on startup.

Get the honda eu3000 if you can. Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it!

Difference in fuel consumption between running half load and full load is considerable. Go with the bigger unit!

Our biggest issue is where to put it. 2000 may be the better option.

Yea would have to built something to hold the 3000 or run two 2000. Not sure I have a 3500 for home it just so loud. Not sure we could sleep or anyone else of that matter. Thanks for all the input.

Isn't 2 2000's cheaper and lighter than a 3000?

are you saying that your trailer only has a 5000btu a/c? that doesn't sound right.
or are you talking about a separate a/c that you want to run?

I have seen some of those trailers running residential ACs. A honda 1000 MAY power it. I saw a guy on YouTube power one with one of those harbor freight 900s.

Does anyone think a 2000eu honda would run the 5000 btu ac and small refrigerator. One more can u link a 2000eu and 1000eu together. I really like the honda's but really need the small one's for room.

I think a 2k will be fine. Do the math.
As for mixing sizes, you can't do it with the Honda or Yamaha, but there is a kind that does it. When I get home, I will look it up unless the name pops in my head.

Here's a vid on hooking up a 1000 and 2000. Interesting that two 1000's = more continuous power than one 2000.
http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=r...&v=qKam1o_3t_w
Also, it may be possible to hook this adaptor to two generators:

Opinions anybody?

See post 2.
"my 2000i runs a 5000 BTU window unit in my slide in truck camper, but really struggles on startup". Even a 5K AC unit pulls some amps on startup...
It is a Frigidaire 5K window unit, and runs fine with a 2000i. Not sure about a 1000i, but given my experience, I would doubt it. The other posts on other generators make me skeptical, but it is Utube so MUST be true, really, seriously.

You may have heard that but it doesn't happen... MAYBE with capacitor mods to easy the startup draw (Turbs) and a fan delay, but even then I think you are on the edge.
Best solution is 2-2000i's put together, you can lift them and store them and even get a extended fuel system if you need it.
I would love a 3000i, but can't put it in my truck cause it's to heavy, for my GVWR, which I am already over (sorry, weight police). I can stick the 200o in the camper in a variety of places.. Including the back rack.

From my own experience and mine only, a single 2000i on my old 5er wouldn't run the 13.5 a/c but ran everything else. Don't know about the 5000 a/c and fridg. I opted for the pair of 2000i's for my new 5er and runs everything nicely. Not much louder than a single .

Thanks for the info on paralleling the Honda's.
Lifan generators advertise that they can be mismatched.
