I have a Rockwood 8310 with 2 a.c.'s and I am running water heater and frige on 30 amp. I put a.c. on diferent temperatures. I turn 1 off when we are toasting or hair dryer is on. It came with 50 amp cord.

As far as your generator, yes you will need the companion. I can't run the AC with only one genny or run the microwave off two genny's and the AC. Just power management.
I recently installed the cord reel by Mor/Tide. No longer wrestle the 50 amp cord. It would work great with 30 amp as well. Much easier to use and stow away even when cool outside. Saves a lot of storage space as well. PPL beat everyone's price even with shipping ($9.99).

I have the same setup. One A/C and all the other standard equipment.

I use a 30 amp cord because it's lighter and I too have two Honda generators I hook together and use when dry camping and need the A/C.

No problem work's great.
