Inverter wiring

I just purchased a 1500 watt inverter for my trailer. The plan is to install it in the front compartment close to the batteries (2x Group 31's) and just run an extension cord to the inside to plug in the TV and computers (maybe a coffee pot). Any input's from the group on plusses and minusses?
