Is it ok to stay on shore power all the time?

I currently keep my RV in the driveway and connected to 30A shore power all the time when not on the road (total time plugged in is close to 2 years so far). I do this mostly to keep the fridge cold but do use the RV for overnight stays about once a week. I was recently told that is not good and I'm unnecessarily wearing out the converter and also wasting electricity for just powering the fridge. Is it ok to stay on shore power more or less indefinitely? Am I unnecessarily wasting electricity and should find a way to snake an extension cord to the fridge? Thanks

Also have a 30 amp shore power outlet for our Lexi. When not on the road, it stays plugged in 24/7. Hot summer days I run the ac, and a dehumidifier when very humid.
Winter I run a space heater set at 40-45 degrees.
Going on 3 years now without a problem.

Read some old posts about adding about 2 ounces of pure mineral oil to each cell to avoid water going by by.
Have two 12 volt in our 2012 Lexi, OE, going on 4 years old. Added 2 oz of mineral oil to each cell about 1 1/2 years ago, and have yet to add any water since then. Check them every two months or so, and still full, still at full charge.

It's fine, although it does have the potential to reduce the life of your coach batteries. They are designed to discharge and recharge, not to stay on constant charge and possibly overcharge.

Fascinating. I am off to Google to look into the mineral oil thing.

In the meantime my batteries are getting a bit weak so I may throw a little Viagra in each cell to get them back "up" to maximum charge.

I will check tomorrow to see what type of converter I have. The RV is a 2014 Forester 2861DS, so it is a newer model. I guess the good thing is that none of the responses are explicitly saying it is a bad thing to do.

I keep mine plug in on 30amp using an adapter to use 110. I just check batteries every so often. Also leave un plugged once in a while to deplete batteries then recharge. Only time I use the 30amp is when I need to run the air while working inside. Later RJD

Mines plugged in all the time, it also has a battery disconnect. Just turn the batteries on every so often to charge them.

Here in Florida, The Lightning Strike Capital of the USA, I never leave it connected when storing.

Just remember that anything plugged in is subject to surge damage (even with a "surge protector") and is also a possible source for a fire in the event of a component failure.
