The specifications say this switch is 3x6x9 inches. That seems awfully big to me. The pics look like it would be smaller with two of the dimensions being the same. I would like to mount it inside the battery box with the switch on the outside. Anyone know if these dimensions are correct? I'm wondering if maybe that is the dimensions of the package it comes in?
I mounted mine to the tongue within 12" from my battery. These are made for marine applications and are rated for strong water jets, spray, etc so no problem exposing them to the weather.

I was planning on mounting the switch inside the battery box with just the selector knob on the outside, would there be any problems with that?
Won't fit - as per Herk's comment above. I have that switch and mine is mounted on the outside of the battery box, with the cables running through the battery box lid channels.
I was planning on a bigger battery box I saw at Walmart and the battery that came with the camper is in a smaller battery box. I guess that now that I know the dimensions I can measure the battery and box and see if it will fit. I thought I would use the smaller battery box for a second battery.
I have kinda thought about doing this and some of the other mods (like remote awning...) but I was wondering if you thought it would void any of the warranties on the trailer doing stuff like this? Or should I wait till all the warranties run out?

thanks.
My first "mod" was done about six minutes after it hit my driveway.
Some mods clearly will have an impact on your camper's warranty, like adding anything to your bumper or drilling or welding on the frame.
Others are in the "gray area" and will only become an issue if the mod goes wrong, like working on the electrical system and then putting the battery back in in reverse. Trying to claim the fried converter under warranty might be problematic.
Others should not have any impact (like adding vent covers) as long as you install it according to the directions. (Unless you put a hole in the roof with your screwdriver).
Anything that MIGHT have an impact on the manufacturer's warranty should be delayed unit the unit's warranty has expired, IMHO.

I mounted mine on the plate that my propane bottles sit on. I notched the plastic propane bottle cover for the wires and only have to lift the cover 2 inches to turn on or off. Out of sight and out of weather.

I had to shave my second battery box handle off the box to fit it to the battery tray on the Salem. Super tight fit but with a bit of elbow grease, a 5 lb maul and 4 bolts and nuts it fits.

I beat you a little, my first mod was on the dealers lot when the tech drilled 8 holes in the axle support tubes and put 8- 1/2 x 1" gr 8 bolts thru the tube into the axle supports for me. Gave him a $40 tip as it is a bear drilling the holes.

what model trailer do you have?
I mounted the same style of disconnect you are looking at under the propane tank on my 2306
I have added pictures so you can see what it looks like mounted and how it is hidden when the propane cover is installed
I now have dual batteries and going to upgrade to dual switch but havent as of yet

Depsnds on what you are doing - I mounted a Locking fresh water door on my trailer - had to cut some of the fiberglass to get it mounted but I sealed it well so as long as what you do to your trailer isnt the cause of the issue I dont see why you couldnt do it other then stuff to the frame.

the nice part about it is that when I installed that switch I had a single battery - I now have a dual battery setup and am going to swatch that switch out for the one that does battery "one" 1 - Battery "two" 2 - or both batteries.
Same dimensons and the only thing I have to change is adding one power wire and removing the jumper from the other battery

Ok lets attempt this again....
I purchased the Blue Sea 9001e e-Series Battery Switch Selector locally - just under 58 bucks taxes included.
Where to put it?
There is no sturdy brace under the propane tanks like some units.
The only place I can find for fitment is at the location marked in red (sorry for anyone colour blind I didn't think of the colour before it was marked) - other than that I can get a piece of Aluminum plating and attach to to the underside of the tank pan (extinguish smokes, remove propane tanks second and drill third - right?)
