I see you have cardboard over your panels. You put a switch between your panels and your controller?

I used the cardboard during installation. Once the system was installed and everything hooked up I removed the cardboard.

Just so you know, if you ever remove the battery from the controller without first disconnecting the panels, you can possibly damage the controller. That's why you want a disconnect switch between the panels and the controller. Hopefully, you also put a circuit breaker between the controller and the batteries.

Added this disconnect to the solar panels. Good idea babcock I recalled reading about never hooking up the panels to the charge controller without the batteries connected FIRST. It makes sense if you disconnect the batteries you should disconnect the panels first. Thanks for the reminder appreciate it.
I don’t have a circuit breaker between the CC and the batteries but I did put a 40 amp inline fuse on the positive side between the CC and batteries.

A fuse is fine.

I just ordered a Renogy 40amp MPPT controller. I tried to set the PWM settings parameters to match the spec sheet for my batteries but the controller wouldn’t let me save the changes. The MPPT Controller I ordered will.
