Light covers

An anyone explain how to get the light covers off the ceiling lights? I've tried pulling, pinching and they don't seem to want to come off. I have some styrofoam pieces inside and want to get it out.

Similar, just a little more rounded at ends

Insert a table knife in the center between the white and clear and twist very slightly to get about an 1/8" -3/16" gap and pull the clear lense down. There are 2 tabs on the lens that insert in a slot in the fixture.

I squeeze sides in a little then pull lense out and away. Not down towards you.

Is a "table knife" the same as a "butter knife"? That's what we called them when I was a kid at home.

I will try both suggestions and see which one I can get to work. I'll try squeezing first and if that doesn't work I will move onto the knife method.

You have to slide the lense outward first!

I was almost certain they were. My Mom would get mad when we used a "butter khife" instead of a screwdriver.

On our 1940LTD the covers slide straight back from the white part about 1/4 inch then come down. Too bad they don't put this info in the owners package.
