Unhappy lights won't work

I have a Sierra 5th wheel - the light over the chesterfield and the 2 over the table have stopped working. Have changed bulbs and checked fuses. Apparently there is a 'switch' somewhere but can't find it - all suggestions gratefully accepted!

All of those lights are in the slide room and are usually on a single switch. Perhaps a current Sierra owner can assist you -- what year and floor plan do you have?

Oh, and for those who were wondering, a chesterfield is a sofa in Canada...

Thx WC re 'sofa' my other option was 'couch' so hoped for the best! Since I'm Canadian, not sure of the USA lingo sometimes.

I think my rig is a 2008 the area not lighting is in the slide. However, the light that is attached to the wall does work. Hopefully someone will be able to tell me were they hide this 'switch' you mention as sure would like it to be that easy.

Holy hockey-socks, haven't heard that term used in 20-odd years - and I'm an over-the-hill Canuck! Maybe cuz we spend too much time in the redneck part of Canada?

If you're shopping for a sofa/couch at any of the major retailers in Canada, the sales rep will likely be giving you that deer in the headlights look if your ask to look at their chesterfields. The Wiki article says it's a Canadian term but my vote goes to it being a British term that got adopted along that historical pathway.

The 12V power feed for these overhead lights is probably under the slide. Check and see if any of the wires have been damaged when moving the slide in or out.

Check the wiring under your slide out. I had a bad connection with a wire connection that was in a wrapped in a plastic wire cover. It was a butt connection that the wire was not pushed in far enough before it was clamped. It took almost two years before it lost its connection. Good luck on finding the problem.

I was thinking chesterfield was a very popular style of furniture (chest-of-drawers) at one time so, I thought you were talking about the light over the dresser in the bedroom!

Anyway.....since both lights are in the slide, I would suspect a wiring issue under the slide. Open the slide, locate the 12v wiring and how it's routed. See if it appears to be pulled too tight when the slide is fully open. Then if you can safely, have someone close the slide while you watch the wiring to see if it kinks or gets "pinched" anywhere when the slide closes. If so, then that will give you a starting point to look for a break.
