You say nothing about age model of trailer but I guess it doesn't matter...
A loose wire at the breaker could make it heat up and trip.
SHUT OFF POWER TO THE TRAILER then look for loose/burned wire at the breaker
itself.
It's also possible the main breaker is simply bad.
That's rare but not unheard of.
IF it were me- I change the main breaker after a few other visual checks.
A plug in 30 amp single pole breaker is less than $4 at HomeDepot.
It's a pretty simple change out but I'm not telling you to do it-- just saying what
I'd do.
IF you feel confident you can probably do it yourself.
BE SURE TRAILER IS UNPLUGGED FROM SHORE POWER!!!
IF a new breaker trips then you have to look further.

There is a lesson here:
ALWAYS leave the fridge in AUTO with a propane tank turned on if you will be away from the camper. The unit will immediately switch by itself from AC to gas and save your food.
Running the water heater on electric while you are away from the camper is a waste of resources, IMO. Seems wasteful to me and in this case caused you a problem you most likely would not have had if it was off.
Check the power center for loose/ burnt wires as stated. High resistance under high load (water heater again - 1500 watts! - 13 amps) will cause a LOT of heat.

I was wondering very same thing. Maybe the water heater is the cause though if it's the only high use device that was on.

Repeatedly tripping the 30amp breaker could have possibly weakened it so it is tripping at a much lower draw.
It's also possible that the WH element has been toasted and is shorting out. The thermistor relay is also something that should be checked even if it's just to rule it out.
So, if it was a bad water heater or something on that branch drawing lots of power, the water heater branch CB would have tripped; not the main.
For the main to trip (only), the camper (in total) is drawing more than 30 amps long enough to trip the main (without overloading a branch) or the 30 amp main CB is actually bad. (if it was the main feed line the pedestal would have tripped).
I suspect there is more than one high amp branch and the total is causing the problem.
First MAKE SURE the DW did not leave her curling iron plugged in.
(Don't ask how I know this is a show stopper).
Then, a careful inspection of the wiring at each AC outlet and circuit breaker is needed.

Theoretically. But if the main breaker has been weakened, a short or bad relay on the water heater leg 'could' trip the main before the WH CB has a chance to.
"If" the tripping is due to a short, then the WH would be a more likely suspect
It could very well just be a bad main, or it could be a combination of the WH (pulling 1500watts), the reefer (pulling 350-500watts), and the converter (pulling 600-1000watts when charging batteries) with no short coming into play.
Just tossing out ideas in the event replacing the main doesn't resolve the problem.

Yes, that makes a great deal of sense as well.
Another reason why I have to have a darn good reason to run the WH on electric besides saving a few dollars per season in propane (I do turn it off when away from the camper for the day). Takes about 10 minutes to bring back to temp.

Hi Is rv at a camp ground or home? If at camp ground are others having trouble with there beakers tripping also? If your not the only one the camp ground may have a low voltage problem which will drive the amps up the lower the voltage goes below 110 volts and cause the breaker to trip ( brown out ). Have seen this is older camp ground that have not made infrastructure up grades to keep up with the larger rv power demands. Or your power pedestal from the camp ground has a problem with the breaker or wiring. If this is the camp grounds equipment have them fix it!!!! Don't play with there property.
Normally the A/C breaker is installed adjacent to the main 30 amp breaker. In hot weather, with the A/C running constantly, the A/C breaker will get very hot (normal) and the main breaker will also get hot. In my experience, the combined temperature can trip the main breaker. My fix then was to swap the A/C breaker load with a different 20 amp breaker (microwave) farther down the bus. Had no more nuisance trips after that.
Something you may be missing is the length of the lead in cord. Are you on an extension cord? If so is it heavy enough to carry enough amp. Also a cord end can be loosely connected dropping the amps. These will cause a breaker to trip also.

Also, check the breaker on the pole outside. I had a problem with the campsite breaker. It was loosely wired and caused a heavier load on the whole trailer. The voltage was hovering around 109 volts and everything was overheating. I disconnected from the 30amp and used an adapter to the 50amp and everything was fine from then on. Also have had no other problems after that. Just letting you know, it is not ALWAYS the internal wiring. Good luck tracking it down.
Low voltage will cause overheating in only inductive loads like the Air Conditioner Compressor, fan blower motor, and the microwave.
Low voltage makes resistive loads, like the water heater less efficient - less delivered wattage (current will stay the same because the resistance stays the same).
At lower voltages your electronics will become unreliable and may stop working altogether; TV, Radio, Desktop Computer.
Laptop will be unaffected because it is a battery voltage moderated device.
Wall Warts (Phone chargers and laptop power supplies) have output voltage regulators which will deliver their design output voltage and current regardless of input voltage provided it is enough to trigger the voltage regulator to regulate.
