I got the plug cleaned up pretty well so I should be OK for the weekend. As far as my new truck squatting more than my old one, I had the hitch placed on my old truck, a 2011 chevy 1500 Z71 with a 3.08 rear end. not enough gear to pull the TT well. So I purchased a 2013, has a 3.42 rear end. Should I raise the hitch a little to get the truck level or lower it. I'm pretty sure I need to raise it but you guys are experienced at this stuff and I am a newbie. Thanks for all the advice so far.
Jim

Raising the hitch isn't going to level the truck. That is just going to adjust how high the truck holds the tongue of the trailer... Or in other words... adjusting the height of the hitch is only going adjust the height of the trailer...

I was just wondering how to adjust the hitch so that the rear of the truck dosent squat as much. I have a Reese WDH with the friction sway bars.

If you have the chain links, hook one chain lower for more torsion. If you have the bars with saddle brackets, there should be washers on a special rivet in the head tilting the ball reward from the shank. To add more torsion add more washers to till the ball farther...

I am trying to buy the same truck you have to replace my 2008 GMC 1500 5.3 lt, 3.73 gears, 4 speed. Did your 2011 have a 5.3 lt, 4 speed with the 3.08 gears? How much does your TT weight? Did the 6 speed tranny make the differance?

Yes, had the 3.08 gears.. TT weighs 5500 dry, hitch weight of 590. 3.08 gears were not enough in my opinion, really struggled on hills. 3.42 are much better.

Thanks, I'm checking out a 2013 Silverado1500 crewcab to pull my 7000 lb TT. I feel my GMC did good for pulling, so I hope the new one should be better.

"f1100turbo" and others: Not all Lowe's, Home Depot, other big box stores will carry either the 30 amp or 50 amp male RV cord connectors. This will depend on local electrical coding. In my area the big box stores are not allowed to carry the RV electrical parts under our current county electrical coding. Nothing says you cannot order the correct part and install it yourself, you just cannot buy RV electrical parts in this county. "Jandj1026"--hopefully you are making sure the breaker within the campsites electrical box is "OFF" before installing or removing you shore power male end into/from the campsites electrical receptacle. I've seen more than one camper get a big surprise when they go to plug in their power cord and the campsite breaker is already "ON". IF there are any electrical items within the camper already "ON" you can/will get an arc between your shore power cord and the campsites electrical supply receptacle.

Go to a electrical supply house and buy what you need. Take your old one in and match it. The RV grade ends bought at the dealers does not seem as good as the ones bought from a electrical supply house.
