MH battery depletion excessive?

Getting to know our '14 Sunseeker 2500TS. Recently winterized and put in indoor storage with fully charged batteries. Battery disconnect turned to off, and verified no DC use, far as I could tell. Battery cables left connected. Went on a road trip. Back to the MH in about 5 weeks, and the batteries were nearly dead. Engine battery is fine. Sound normal?
Dealer says to always disconnect battery cables at the batteries when in storage. I've never done this with previous RVs, but am willing to learn.
