My class a coachmen mirada not charging from home hook-up

Hello,
I have set up my 2009 Coachmen Mirada in our backyard due to needing break from home repairs. I have a 30 amp plug from house that the rv is using. I noticed my batteries are not charging as needed per monitor panel and lights going dim. I turned off the electric water heater but still using both air conditioners as well as tv units. However, I can start the rv and the monitor indicates charging as I would expect from house plug-in. After running the engine for app. 20 minutes the monitor indicates battery level is good but will fall to fair in about 15 minutes and low in about an hour. Why charging ok with engine running but not from house plug in? I checked the cabin batteries (3) and the terminals on two need cleaning but if that was the problem wouldn't it have same charging problem with both home plug and engine running??? This is 50 amp unit but I don't think I had this problem before I had the 220 circuit put in and ran it off 120. Stumped..

P.S. Right now it doesn't have enough power to close the two slide-outs. Hope I can close slides by using generator when closing down rv....

The 30 amp RV receptacle on your house should be 120 volts and not 220 volts, if it is the case then the converter might be damaged?????

30 amp receptacle should be 120v not 220v. In any event if you're batteries are charged then run down quickly while plugged in then you converter has gone bad (assuming your batteries are in good condition) most likely.

Is there a way to determine if converter is defective other than batteries not charging? Any way to verify output?

Sure use a real voltage tester and with a/c off test output of batteries, read around 12-12.5 volts. A/C plugged in 13.6+. If not, Either batteries have bad fuse or are bad, same for converter.

I'm surprised that you're running both of your a/c units off of your 30 amp plug. I too own a 2009 Mirada that stays plugged into a 30 amp feed from the house but only run one unit at a time due to the draw.

You might want to make sure that your battery disconnect switch is in the ON position

X2 on testing the batteries to see if the controller is working. Have you tried charging the house batteries using the Generator?
