New Trojan (Battery) : - )

After almost 5 years of service, the NAPA Group 27 Deep Cycle seemed to be losing its endurance. So, today was a new battery. $190 for a Trojan Group 30 (130 amp hrs) or roughly $80 for virtually anyone's Group 27 with roughly 105 amp hrs. Decided to go with the Trojan. Not sure it will actually pay out as you can clearly buy 2 batteries for the price of 1 Trojan. We dry camp a lot and many campgrounds don't allow generators of any kind. So, I went with as many amp hours as I could find in one 12 volt battery. Didn't want to go the route of two 6 volts. Anyone else go this route? Any experience out there with Trojan brand 12 volt?

Never seen anyone do this. Most guys I know make the switch to 6V as soon as they can. If you evaluate how much money you spent per amphour of battery capacity you kinda went the most expensive route.

130 hours at $190 = $1.46/amphour
105 hours at $80 = $1.31/amphour (anyone's Group 27)
225 hours at $250 = $1.10/amphour (two trojan 6v T105s)

There are many reasons why guys go to 6V batteries for dry camping and this is just one of them. No doubt you will have more amphours available to you and Trojan makes some of the best batteries available. For dry camping it is important to have as much capacity as you can in my book. I would have gone two Group 27s over the single Trojan which would have given you 210 amphours for less money if you didn't want to make the switch to the 6V batteries. Is it too late to take it back and trade it in?

Trojan has a great web site with lots of good information on their batteries. I'd start there for sizes and weights but the 6v batteries are the only way to go in my estimation for those who dry camp.
