"wmtire" you are so correct that taking photos before removing even the cover on anything. I worked industrial maintenance for 38 years and took so many things apart and put them back together. But at 67 years old now I find myself, way too often, asking me "where did this go". "Larry Tiner": Invest in a multi-meter, they can be found for $25 or at most home building supply stores. Sears has a great one with a red rubber case that runs $25-$35 most of the time. Learn how to use it on low voltage, 12 volt DC, systems. It's not that hard and can save your butt often.

Great idea! After this, I should remember that. Turned electricity on and the electric side of the water heater now works.

I think the way you would check an heating element would to be check for continuity ??? that was a pretty nasty element that was replaced !!!
Do we know how old that was ??? I will look back !!!

First time replacing it, RV is 3 years old. Our main RV camp has questionable water source and we try to use filters.
It works after replacing element, so I'm assuming it was malfunctioning.
