No Power going into camper

We took the kids out for our first camping trip this weekend and ended up turning around and coming home, for some reason we have no power going into the camper when plugged in. We have it when hooked up to battery of course, we have checked all the fuses, the only thing we can figure out is when hooking the battery back up for the summer my husband hooked up the cables backwards, we knew because when putting the slide out, in was out and out was in........found out that the cables were backwards, my husband unplugged everything changed the cables around and then it all seemed to work fine, could something have happened when he did that and it messed up the electrical?

It's highly possible the converter (converts electricity from 120v to 12v) has a blown fuse.

Is that something we can check? and if so how? or do we need to take it in and have it checked?

Check your converter fuses. Typically there is a 40amp reverse polarity fuse for just that reason. It is sometimes hidden underneath the plastic face so you may have to trim some plastic to get to it. Read your fuse chart to find it

This thread may also help in locating/identifying the reverse polarity fuses and/or converter location.

Hope this isn't the case but I have seen at least one converter fried when the battery was hooked up backwards.

The thread I linked to in post 7 has a lot of information in it, as to where the polarity fuses may be located (either in the fuse panel..or on the face of the converter itself). It also has places your converter may be located, if the reverse polarity fuses do happen to be on the the converter itself.

I would suggest reading that whole thread as it may give you ideas what/where to look.

40A fuses are generally orange . That may help locate them.

Great to hear. Now you have to reschedule the kids camping fun.

Don't give the hubbie too much of a hard time. It happens frequently. Of course I didn't suggest you couldn't hold it over his head, just not give him grief. LOL

It's really one of those things you only do one time.....like flushing the toilet with the bathroom vent fan going. You find out just how good the fan works as it sucks up the smell out of the black tank into your RV.

don't know what camper you have, or how it's wired -- we have a micro-lite 21fbrs with which we experienced the same thing: no 120 when hooked up -- found that the gfci was bad, and with it being connected to all the other ac outlets, well, no 120 anywhere --
