No power (SOLVED)

2005 Salem Forest River 5th.
I have no power at all to the unit. I plugged in the unit direct and still nothing. No battery (brand new now cause I thought they went bad) power at all either. Help?

I had this very problem.

Under your pin box is a red rubber covered curret limiter.
It is most likely good, but the connectors might be corroded.
(mine were)

Remove them and sand the terminals. Reinstall and cover with dielectric grease to keep them from corroding again.

This is a different one under the pin box on the 5th wheel. It is the protection for the tow vehicle's charging line to the battery. It is open to the elements and gets a good splashing with salt water if towing in winter (like when heading south after the holidays <grin>)

If you stand under the black 5th wheel assembly on the front of your camper and look up you will see the silver electrical box that all the travel trailer hook up cables go into and right in front of that is a red rubber covered current limiter with 3 red wires on it. Two on one side and one on the other. I will try and post a photo tomorrow. As far as I know it is not resettable. It opens on overload and closes on cool down.

I had a similar issue and it was the main GFI in the bathroom that tripped and everything would not work just another thing to check.

Is the outlet that you are plug into a GFI? If it is you will have to plug the trailer into a non GFI outlet.
