If you want a better battery than a group 27 try a group 31, I am running model # 31DC130 made by Crown Battery has a amp rating of 130. Crown Battery is the OEM for Cubcar and are a good Trojan battery replacement.

2 group 24's. Trailer only came with 1 group 27, but I had these 2 old 24's, s I added the new box (white) then made an extension for the vent out of the PVC pipe. We hardly ever plug into power. Have a Honda 3000, and will hook up solar panels when I get a new shed built. Even thinking about a wind turbin also.

No where close to any hook ups.

Don't be fooled into thinking your tv will charge your battery...it only supplies a trickle charge at best unless you have a large gage wire running from your alternator to your plug. A #12 wire just won't do it.

My Silverado does a great job of charging my batteries. I can run them down to about 60 percent and on a four hour drive, they can be charged back to full. That's traveling with the headlights on which increases the output to the trailer. Not sure of the wire size, but it is a 30A fused circuit.
The wire to and from the batteries to the converter is only 12 gauge.

re: charging while towing.

I'm not sure about other trucks, but my Chevy 1500HD and my GMC 2500HD both bump up the voltage a bit when tow/haul mode is engaged.

On some vehicles that do not have tow/haul mode the voltage can be bumped up by turning on the headlights.

Read your owner's manual.

Very true on both my 2013 and 2015 Silverado 1500...
From the owner's manual

If charging a remote (non-vehicle)
battery, press the Tow/Haul Mode
button, if equipped, at the end of the
shift lever. This will boost the
vehicle system voltage and properly
charge the battery. If the trailer is
too light for Tow/Haul Mode, or the
vehicle is not equipped with Tow/
Haul, turn on the headlamps as a
second way to boost the vehicle
system and charge the battery.

I use the headlights since my popup is too light for tow haul. And the I believe the lights on the trailer make it easier to see, even in daylight...

Ok, just gotta ask. Does anybody know if the headlight on for more electricity works on a 2012 Jeep Wrangler?

It should (or I would hope) be in the owner's manual. On my GM vehicles it was always under towing information.
