Online Deep Cycle batteries

Anyone have any good places to purchase some 12V deep cycle batts like Trojan or Deka? Evidently one of mine is not good; day before a trip.

I have found this place....
eBatteriesToGo - Search

Anyone familiar with them?

"online" I believe you need to purchase them in your local. I'm sure they can't be shipped, if thats what your asking.

I've had Optima batteries shipped from NE (1st Optima Battery Sales) via UPS ground a few times. However they only sell Optima batts and I want true deep cycles.

Yea; hoping not to have to resort to Wallyworld. I should be able to make it through 3 nights in Moab with one battery and running only the furnace at night and a few hours charging each day.

Do you have experience with these batteries? From my research they appear to be of high quality.

I bought them for my Sump Pump emergency backup. They are AWESOME.

I am waiting for the pair of acid batteries in my camper to quit and will replace them with these.

I have a 2015 Coachmen Prism with 2 factory installed deep cycle acid batteries. Does anyone know if it's possible to replace them with gel batteries? Would that create any sort of mismatch with the charging system? Which batteries would you recommend? Can I go one size bigger (I have the room in the battery compartment)?
Thanks

AWESOME.

Got my solar/inverter in place, now its time to upgrade my battery bank. Going to replace my Trojan 6v with these AGM batteries.

At last years Forest River Rally the Tech that gave Seminars said not to use Gel AMG Batteries. As the inverter will recharge them to fast and shorten their life. He said they were not combatable with the system for that reason. Gel batteries need a special Charger that is designed for them.

This is the charge/converter I plan to replace the factory.

You mentioned batteries, if one goes bad you replace the other one as well. Otherwise it will damage the new battery. Good luck

Dale....there are two types of sealed batteries...Gel Cells and AGM's....they are NOT at all the same and Gels have a VERY different charging regimen than AGM's. I'm sure that is what the tech was talking about. Gels are often used in deep cycle storage situations like computer backup systems. Never sold in normal battery places for use in cars/trucks/RV's and the ALTERNATOR/Regultor and the charger would need to be designed to deal with them. AGM's are fine with any modern 3-4 stage charger. (normally!)

Looks like the WFCO 6800 series converter/chargers can handle all three types without issue:

ConvertersWF-68100, WF-68100 100 Amp Power Converter

No change of converter is required for AGM. If you get GEL, then you need one of these.

Herk...it appears from a quick read that the gel setting simply eliminates the bulk cycle and charges at 13.7V then trickles at 13.2. This is SAFE for gel cells but is NOT optimal.
Optimal (at moderate temps) would be 14.0-14.2 Bulk and Absorb and 13.8 float. This per Xantrex.
Not a big deal if you are plugged in but quite a bit longer if you are boondocking and running a genny.
Pesonally....I'd avoid them altogether!

It appears that AGM/Flooded takes the same charge plan.

Here is a cool add to make the progressive dynamics unit a 4 stage dynamo for flooded and AGM batteries!

Charge Wizard (Flooded & AGM)

Yup...charge Wiz from Progressive and Smart IQ from IOTA change their dumb units into smart ones...but you can also buy models with the smart built in. One thing to avoid with AGM vs. Flooded is an EQ cycle...they don't like to vent!! If anyone is thinking about AGM...make sure there is either a selection for AGM type....or an option for temperature compensation and SHUT DOWN if the temp gets over 125-140 degrees for your charger before buying the batts!
The EQ cycle warning above is for most AGM's...Lifeline DOES allow EQ but under strictly controlled conditions. Trojan does not. Deka does not.

What about the Vmax I am looking at? The 3 stage WFCO 8900 converter is supposed to work with the Vmax AGMs but I have an add on equalizer on my flooded batteries. I guess that needs to come off if I switch, right?

VMax are generic far east batteries so nothing special in terms of technology...and EQ is a no-no with standard AGM's. Yes, lose any equalizer in the system.
And yes...the 3 stage 8900 series parameters will be fine for those batts.
Now a bit more advice if I may...
1. Always (or almost always) charge them to 100%
2. If you're putting it in storage for more than a few weeks...charge them to 100% then remove the negative wire...they really don't like a constant trickle charge and are sensitive to heat. Since they only self discharge at 1 percent or so a month so they will hold up real well in storage. Walmart sells a nice little cut off switch to make this easy...and as you know...the coach cutoff switch does not cut off parasitic loads.
Enjoy the new batts...it will be interesting to hear your reports on how they do for you as the value is excellent if they perform like normal US deep cycle Agms in on the road service.

I was thinking wet cell, those I think can't be shipped due to a possible leakage of acid I would assume. Didn't know you meant AGM's. Just sayin'
