Open Ground

Hi Everyone,
I'm new to this forum. Been Rving for many years, but just bought this 2013 Silverback. My last FW was a 2003 Montana that we bought new. Question: I have a Progressive Industries SS50 Surge Protector. I'm having a problem with "open ground". In my old unit I had this same problem, but after having the pedestal checked out, finally figured out it was because I was using 30 amp plug rather than 50 amp plug. Switched to 50 amp plug, problem went away. Got this Silberback a week ago and the problem is back. I'm using the standard 50 amp cord. Is "open ground" mean I'm only using a sing phase? or something else? Mind you I'm not an experience tech.

Open ground means that your ground connection between your SSP50 and your electrical supply is missing or has a very high resistance in the connections. Either the receptacle grounding female connection is not making good contact wit the SSP50 ground male plug or the grounding wire is not connected to receptacle or is broken or corroded.

Another thing to check...If someone has put on an after market cord end, the ground screw may have worked it's way loose.. If you can undo a couple of screws and take the cord end apart, this may be something to check...
