Outside security light

My security light on the right side of my 5er has not worked in years. I bought a new bulb nothing so I tested it and there is no power going to it. I have a security light on the left side and of course that one works. I checked the fuses and they are all good. I pulled the fixture to see what the wires looked like and of course somewhere they change because they are not the same at the switch, so how is one to chase wires when they change them somewhere along the way? Where do I do from here? Any help would be great. Thanks

I assume you have power on both sides of the switch when turned on?

To chase the wires you need to make sure that ALL power is removed. You can then use an extra length of with and an ohm meter. Disconnect the suspect wire at both ends, attach the extra length of wire to one side and drag the other side close enough to the other end and check continuity.

Check the ground if you have power at the switch.

get a tick tracer. You put the transmitter on one end and then take the probe and start looking. when you find the end the probe will emit a tone. We use them all the time in the hvac control world
