What the heck did you have plugged in?
That is some serious amp draw.
What cords are you using?
Any adapters in the loop?
A pic would help.

Is the power still working?
Have you done any modifications?
Did it work on prior trips?
What was plugged in inside the camper?
30 or 50 amp?
Did you blow any breakers in the camper or pedestal?

If it's a 30 amp, did you twist it to the right, when you plugged it into the trailer outlet?
Many fail to to this, which causes a poor connection.

Makes me want to unplug the power when ever we leave the trailer for any length of time.

Maybe this time but not in the past. That is caused by loose connections. You must 1/4 turn every time and install locking ring. Obviously you need to replace both haves

May be a loose connection on the other side of the plug.

If it has worked and it was connected properly I am also thinking loose connection on a terminal. This is not common but has happened before.

Mine did the same thing. I replaced it and cut the failed one apart. What I found was the crimp where the wire is attached to the plug was loose. This created a lot resistance which is what melted the plug. After I replaced the end I never had that problem again.
