power Fluctuations & high pitch squeal
I own a 2008 26 ft Wildwood LE - we took it camping this past weekend and noticed the lights would periodically dim and then return to normal. There is also a high pitch squeal when only a couple of overhead lights are turned on, however, the squealing sound stops when most (if not all) the lights are turned on. Can anyone tell me what would most likely cause this issue?

Hmmmm...sounds like maybe a inverter going south? Just a guess.
Were you connected to shore power?
Can you connect to shore power at your home/RV Storage area? Can you replicate the dimming lights and high pitch squeal? (I am interrested in this because of one other possibility: Power fluxuations at the campground)
I am by no means a electrical expert, but if you can provide this info to the forum I am sure there are others more knowledgeable than I that can use the info to diagnose your problem.

Sounds like a converter or battery problem. Unhook battery leads and check dc voltage at the leads. Should be at 13.6 volts. If not it is converter problem. Could also be a battery going bad if the converter checks out good. Check voltage of battery when unhooked from trailer leads. You can find forums for correct voltage.

power fluctuation & high pitch squeal
Thank you for your quick reply. I replaced the battery +/- one year ago. I was hooked to shore power and I asked several of my neighbors if their power was fluctuating - they all replied "no". I will do a voltage test on the AC / DC converter to make sure it's reading the proper voltage of 13.6.

Battery tip: If you are keeping the battery trickle charged (110v or charging device) make SURE you check the water levels every month and top off as needed - you can burn a battery out in a month or two of neglect
(I love the feature in our Rockwood - we have a battery disconnect switch! flip it and the battery is off circuit...cool!)

agree that it's a converter(not inverter) or battery issue.

It's most likely a converter fail.
Especially if it's a wfco brand.
The cooling fan fails then the converter over heats and shuts down. "Lights dim"
Then once it cools it starts back up. "Lights brite"
Do yourself a favor after double checking battery and find converter is bad replace it with a progressive dynamics converter with charge wizard.
Money well spent

Turbs,
I looked on Amazon and could find this item in every amp version except 50 Amp - since our 5er is a 50 Amp unit, would it hurt to put in a larger amp unit?
Hopefully will not need to do this for a few years but just in case...
Cheers,
Bob
