I'm debating whether or not to get a power surge protector and which one to get for my Palomino Columbus 320RS, does antone have any help for me?

Do a search for Surge Protectors here and you will get many posts regarding same.

I purchased a portable Surge Guard 50 amp SP and am quite pleased with it. On second thought I may have gotton a hard wired SP instead of the portable one, but I am pleased that I have the protection.

A lot of big RV's with big A/C's puling a lot of amps in the summer makes,IMO, a SP a good investment.

Here's one good thread.

Here's another thread.

There are a few options to consider: Permanent or portable, 30amp or 50 amp (not sure what you're wired for), and level of protection. In general, buy the most protection. The cheaper surge protectors are limited as to their level of protection.

I like my Progressive Industries EMS-PT30C. Shop around, though. Prices vary widely.

Like Triguy above I like our Progressive Industries unit. It provides more than just surge protection. IMHO it offers alot of features for the price.

Buy the nice one from Camping world when they are on sale, and get the one that resets itself unless you like going out in rain in middle of night...LOL I also give volt and amp read out....so you know how much you are using - that way you know what to run.....good luck.......

Progressive Industries 50A portable EMS is what I got for my 2012 Sabre. My previous 30A 5th., wheel had a hardwired Progressive EMS (Electrical Management System) . After seeing a high end Class A blow one of two A/C, a television and other electrical items after plugging in to a pedestal at an old COE park with an open neutral, I got an EMS the next week. Won't plug in without it.

Which surge protector do I need? I'm looking at Progressives EMS Pt 30 C or the SSP 30 Smart Surge. Big difference in price. Do I need to spend the extra for the EMS model or will the SSP30 give me the protection I need? Also noticed big price spread in the TRC models. Would like some advice on these. Thanks.

I bought the ems unit. It also comes with a lifetime warranty. Camping world sells it online only and is offering it for $215 right now. A great deal.
