powerhouse generator

thinking about buying a powerhouse ph3100ri generator from costco for $1199 ,just wondering if anyone has this unit and what they think of it. i like the idea of the remote start. it claims it can run a 13500 btu rv air conditioner.

there have not been many posts about this generator, on any of the 6 RV forums i frequent.
i would advise you to do a search on the Powerhouse, at RV.net, in their Tech Issues forum. that's the only forum i've seen with posts about it.

Specs show a decibel rating of 56 to 65. That would be a deal breaker for me. It is pretty heavy as well.

HI!

I have a Powerhouse 3000w Other than the battery not being charged when I got it is is fine. Honda is also twice the price and the specifications are nearly the same. I have not used it extensively but it is enough to supply about 25 Amps so yes it will power your A/C.

I just read a review about the Powerhouse 3100Ri generator in the winter 2012 edition of RV Magazine (page 58).

They supposedly tested it up against the Honda EU3000is.

The article states the comparison tests were performed in the CA desert with temps of 120 degrees.

As far as sound, they rated both units at the same decibels.

The full specs are in the article if anyone wants to read them, as the magazine stated the Powerhouse was a worthy adversary to the Honda.

I am kind of leary of the whole process, mainly because Powerhouse has a full page ad in the magazine.......and you don't bite the hand that feeds you.
