My truck is not charging battery. Had it truck plug checked at dealership and plug is fine. The trailer dealership says its the truck. Also I filled up my fresh water tank now it's almost empty. Any suggestions?

did you have your battery disconnect turned off while towing? also double check your fresh water drain make sure its not dripping

Where is the fresh water drain? The battery is connected.

not sure where it is on your rig but on mine its near the rear axle on the drivers side. id check under your rig and look for a wet spot and look for a hose coming down. if you can see your tanks look for a hose coming off your water tank that just has a valve on it.

what is your rig. others here on the site might know where it is.

Maybe your fresh water tank wasn't truly full. How did you determine it was full? Tank level indicators often "speak with forked tongue". Also, many tanks "burp" water when they're not really full.

If it's a newer Ford truck you may need to install the relay and 30a fuse under the hood to enable the battery charging pin on the plug
To have 12v on it when truck is running

It has both. Got an F2504x4 tailer ready. Checked fuse its fine, dealership of truck checked plug and it was working.

If you have a meter or test light you could check the truck and trailer's connectors yourself.



The truck needs to be running for the “Aux 12V” to be present (measure between pin 4 and pin 1) on some vehicles. If you don’t have a meter, you could ask a friend or neighbor with a working 7-pin connector to plug into your trailer and see if it will charge your battery.

Another thing you can check is the trailer’s 7-pin connector between these same pins (pin 4 & 1) for power.

If you don’t have a meter or test light, you can check your trailer by temporarily plugging a 10 or 15-amp fuse between pin 4 and pin 3. This should light your trailer’s running lights.

If you don’t have power, maybe there is a fuse in your trailer that is open.
