Progressive EMS amp reading question

Hey Gang,

Just installed the EMS system. I'm not getting any error reading so WHEW. I did notice once I plugged her in it was reading 5 amp and has begun slowly dropping. She's showing 1 amp now. Been about 15-20 min. Is this normal or do I need to call them for assistance tomorrow?

Thanks much!

Thank you. That was my reasoning but I only know 2 things about electricity. I know what I don't know and I know it can kill you.

Have a good one!

again probably the converter charging the batteries and it is requiring less power as the batteries get charged. how about a real fast test to verify? look at how many amps are being used. then go to the circuit breaker panel and flip the converter circuit breaker to off. then go look at how many amps are being used. they should be less. then go flip the breaker back on and see if the amps increase again.

I headed out to do that I noticed it's reading a PE 02 which means while I was inside, it detected an open ground? I am plugged into my garage 110 outlet via 10 gauge ext cord.
She has been plugged in all week, just put EMS in this AM. Have not run the A/C, only lights, slide and water pump really.

I do have an electrician coming to install a dedicated 30 amp outlet later this week. I also have the print out to hand him to ensure he wires it correctly.

Any thoughts on the PE 02 error?

Loose ground connection on your install?

disconnect extension at garage receptacle and re-connect, maybe just a bad ground contact between receptacle and plug in.....

Unplugged and replugged, not showing PE now. Still reading 1 amp but goes to zero when converter break is off.

Thanks again!

something is wrong! your first post said the ems was working and now it is showing an error code. what changed? did you plug into a different outlet? you said you are not super familiar with electricity. do you have a residential circuit tester? they are the little things you plug into a 110 volt outlet that shows the status of the wiring for that outlet via three little lights on the tester. if not they cost about $10 at any hardware store. disconnect the rv from the outlet and plug in a tester. this will verify that the open ground is not in the house outlet itself. assuming the outlet is ok, check the connections in the ems (of course while disconnected). I know that the ems takes all its readings from the input side. so it is seeing an open ground on the cable going into the unit. the only possibilities are the house outlet itself has the open ground situation, the ground lead going into the ems has come loose, or the power cord from the house to the ems has a problem. you probably have some form of adapter in this cord to convert from the house receptacle to the rv power cord. this may have a problem also.

I had the same error when plugged into a 15A outlet at home. Mine was intermittent as well. It's probably a loose connection - that's what I figure was my problem. When I plugged my (heavy duty) extension cord into the receptacle it wasn't as secure as it could have been.

"PE" mean previous error. When you unplug, it clears the PE code.

Thanks. Since I replugged, I have not received an error message and all appears ok.
