QD3200 troubleshooting

I'll try to keep the griping to a minimum for now. We are on the last week of a 3 week excursion in our 2015 Forester MBS. Today we arrived at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh (the pilots out there will know) and planned to camp in the generator allowed campground along with 10,000 or so of our like minded airplane enthusiasts.

We started the generator and allowed it to warm up. We turned on the roof A/C (13,500 BTU). The fan started, the compressor a short time later and the generator went to overload and quit. I checked what was running (AC/DC converter) and that was it. We have run this unit with the A/C, battery charger and water heater in Florida 90 degree weather, no issues.

I tried troubleshooting by turning off all the breakers at the C/B panel. Turned on the battery charger and then the water heater. The generator did not overload but the relay in the "distribution panel" started clicking (like a dead car battery starter solenoid) and the AC power went offline. The generator did not quit and the AC power came back online shortly after.

While I originally thought it was the air conditioner, I know think it's either a failing generator or the AC to DC converter is failing and overloading the generator. Checked the air filter (clean), oil is 10 hours old and full.

CoachNet was useless, local dealers either refused to see us (since we did not purchase RV from them), other dealer couldn't see us until late Wednesday. Called Forest River and gave long explanation - they promised to help, but they were no help. Called selling dealer, some tech told me I couldn't run the air conditioner along with the battery charger (worked fine previous 106 hours), so they were pretty useless too.

I'm planning on selling this thing when I get home. Can't believe FR leaves you out to dry and allows dealers to blow you off if you didn't purchase from them. Guess you have to stay within 50 miles of selling dealer at all times. Kinda makes having an RV useless too.

Had to find a campground 1 hour away which makes seeing the air shows and other events difficult.

Any ideas on how to fix since it appears we are on our own to do so?

Thanks,

Krea Ellis
