Radio turns on by itself

The radio in my 2014 Work and Play 18EC is turning on automatically on its own. Just randomly we will hear music. We go in and turn it off. Do not know how often, because we both work. Must be frequent because now the battery is dead. Due to the dead battery now the LP alarm is going off. I thought maybe it had alarm feature, but no it has no such option. Have yet to go camping and we are having a hard time finding something NOT going wrong. Is this an electrical problem?

I assume this is automatically turning on at home with no other campers around. I remember reading a few reports of this happening when people were camping. Turned out for them- the remotes were RF remotes instead of IR remotes and were being affected by other campers (or something like that).

You've already touched on the other possibility- that there is an alarm. Apparently our kids are quite adept at setting it.

Not sure what else to tell you to check.

As for the dead battery- if you only have 1 battery in the camper, there are usually enough parasitic loads on it (things that draw a little all of the time- propane alarm, clock for the radio, etc.) that it will drain a battery usually in less than a week. Many new campers are coming with battery disconnects; the rest of us have to install them separately. This allows you to turn off the battery when you know you're going to leave it sit for any length of time (mine is- if it is going to sit for more than a day, I turn it off).

I had that issue with my previous unit. I researched it on the web and found out that there was an alarm feature on it that was not advertised. Seems it was turned on by granddaughter when she pushed a button on the bottom right. I can't remember the brand name to look it up again but give it a search on the web by brand name and see if you can find help. Seems I had to press and hold a button for a few seconds to turn off the alarm setting. Good luck.

What is the make and model of your radio??

As mentioned- Google battery disconnect switch and get one.
Some mount directly on the battery top and some are
put inside, usually near the fuse box/power center.

Also agree must be an alarm on the radio but that's not all that's killing
your battery. Install a disconnect switch such as this-
Amazon.com: Top Post Battery Master Disconnect Switch: Automotive
or this
Amazon.com: Blue Sea Systems 6007 m-Series (Mini) Battery Switch Selector: Sports & Outdoors
Good luck and

If you have this stereo, try this.

To turn the alarm on or off, with the radio off, hit the x-bass button, on screen will read beep on and beep off, there is your alarm toggle. I set the time, set the alarm for 2 min. later, set the toggle to beep off, when the time came, I heard the sweet sound of silence :-)*
