Most will suggest you get and install a hard wired unit.

I think you will be fine.

I use this one.

Go with an EMS- it will protect your equipment from high and low voltage not just surges.

Progressive Industries PT50C 50 Amp Portable Electrical Management System

This is the portable unit but I like the hardwire better. If you Are even thinking of changing units ever, get the 50amp because it will work with all units.
