Reverse polarity fuses

I reversed the battery cables on my TT and blew the reverse polarity fuses (two) on the fuse panel. The fuses were both 40 amp and I replaced with 40 amps.

However going through this process, and reading my panel, it reads the fuses should be 30 amps?? I purchased the TT new and the 40 amp were in place at the time.

Thoughts on what fuses ( amps) should be used for this purpose ?

Thank you.

One of the first things I was taught about
“the manual” is that it is ALWAYS behind.
We would always go with the “as built” configuration instead of
“the manual”.
I would look for a revised (2nd, 3rd,) printing.

Our toad is a new to the US in 2013 Ford
“the manual” is already on its 3rd revision.
