Running lights on Camper
Went to check out a new camp site yesterday and noticed that some of the campers had their camper running lights on when they were disconnected from the TV. It looks like it would be neat at night to have lights around the camper. Any ideas on how this is done? They are plugged into shore line (electric). Even if they were using a generator or battery how would you make a switch to allow these to be on?

You put a fuse into the 7 pin connector plug.

Place a fuse between the 12 volt and running light sides of trailer plug.

Just don't let a couple of members here see you doing that, they get testy.
I have an old female connector laying around, I put a bit of fused wire in to do this.

I'm posting the diagram so there is no confusing of which 2 terminals to connect. Observe, the top of the plug orientation is the raised square portion.

We had 6 campers in a row with our running lights on this weekend and all other lights off. Looked very cool all in a row. Nice and uniform. 👍🏻

I enjoy the look of the fused plug in on the 7 pin plug. I have led lighting on the running lights and will be testing a flasher pattern module to see what it looks like.

does it matter what ampage you are putting in the plug? Someone suggested an 'rv glowplug' to us.

I put a 10AMP fuse. My lights are all led, not much pull for amperage.
If there is a failure of the lighting IMO a 10 or 15 AMP fuse would still take care of your wiring.

Not out of style for us. I put a fuse in my plug all the time I think it looks cool at night and I also have all LED running lights all the way around the 5er, I use a 5amp fuse. A flasher should get there attention. LOL

Yea- they do that at camper shows a lot.
We have 4 campers parked on my two lots (which stay there year round), and we installed a push button automotive switch on each camper using two sta-kon terminals on the end, and then into the plug as described earlier. It makes them a lot easier to turn on and off. The neighbors around liked it so much they did the same with their travel trailers, so virtually every lot in our subdivision with a camper turn on their running lights at dusk and turn off at dawn.
One thing I did do is replace the running light bulbs with LED's- not the whole housing, just the bulbs. After time in hot weather, the running light covers will start to crack from the heat otherwise using standard incandescent lamps.

They make a plug that you can just plug in the end and it will do it by itself. .....
