What is a claim. We boondock a lot and I would like to avoid this trouble.

I've seen this type of lock at a few rv dealers.

A claim is an area staked out and filed with the BLM or the county in which you now own the mineral rights.Claims are filed in 20acre lots.You should see 5 white or wooden posts,one on each corner and the 5th somewhere on the claim with a pvc tube that has the claim papers in it.Claims are in gold bearing areas like the mother lode middle CA and in certain desert areas.99% of all prospectors are the nicest people you will meet.The bad incident I talked about was in Randsburg CA.These people were claim jumping which makes them felons as it a felony to claimjump and it seems to be an isolated incident.You can camp on a claim or ride quads legally,you just can't take the minerals-gold.The other place I have heard of is the mother lode along the rivers.But now that dredging is outlawed I have not heard of anything for over 5 yrs.Last winter in Quartzsite reading the local paper they talked about Druggies sneeking through the washes at night by the rvs boondocking looking for anything to steal. Well the season is starting for me and that why I'm looking to secure my stuff

I just put my Yamaha 2000 in the back of my SUV when I leave the TT for an extended period of time. Leaving a generator sitting out all day at a boondock site is asking for trouble.

I drive lots of miles on bumpy dirt roads and I am afraid of shaking the electrics loose. I think an alarm is the answer.

I used one for years. I bolted it to the frame of the tt and looped the cable thru the bikes and genny. worked great for a couple of years. Rain must of caused the spring inside the unit to rust then break. So the cable wouldn't retract. I removed the device and returned to an old fashioned cable and lock.

I don't know if the new ones are better. If they improve it, I'd buy another. But from what I've seen of this one, its the same.

I don't understand the advantage of that. It seems like the one with the alarm would be better (and a lot cheaper).
