Shore power out does not go to battery

Just noticed this as TT is in driveway plugged in. Had a storm and lost power so went out to the TT to see about cooking dinner in there. No lights, no monitor...nothing. So I hooked up the truck, just to use battery to see. Had running lights on TT but nothing inside. Once the shore power came back on, everything worked fine and the monitor shows the battery as full charge.

I know nothing about these so I am sure I'm missing something but what might that be?

Could be lots of things.

The battery will drain and die ( parasitic drain) if not charged periodically
Many TV with trailer packages have the wiring for the 12V aux power to the TT installed as part of the tow package, but they do not put the fuse or protection relay in the fuse box. Some have these items in a bag in the glove box. If they are installed, the relay will shot off the 12V aux power ( to charge battery or run interior lights) unless vehicle is running. This is to prevent killing the TV battery when parked. Check the fuse box for Trailer aux fuse and relay. If the battery is very dead and you plug in to shore power, you could blow the two 30-40A protection fuses in the converter ( trying to charge a dead battery). Check them ( usually orange).
You may also have a battery shut off switch that is off disconnecting the battery.

If you are storing TT you will need to
1. Add a battery tender to keep battery charged
or
2. keep TT plugged in ( if you do this check battery water monthly
or
3. add a battery shut off switch .

Lights and control circuits for the Fridge (on propane) and Heater (on propane) are powered by the coach batteries provided the coach batteries are charged up. Anything that has been connected to an inverter (changes 12 volts DC to 110 volt AC) for 110 volt will run off the batteries as well through the inverter. Other than that all 110 volt appliances have to be powered by your 30 or 50 amp power cord. Also when your TT is plugged in to the house (or power post at a camp ground) the TT's Converter converts 110 volt AC to 12 volt DC and charges the coach batteries. Most trailers do not come with an inverter but all are equipped with a converter.

Mike I live right around the corner, Chesterfield we lost power too. Was your battery disconnect on. This would take out all battery devices.

Oh, yea. Now I can say...been there - done that.

I had completely forgotten that I turned the disconnect off a couple of weeks ago - don't ask, it's a long story. Not only did I forget that I turned it off, I forgot that there was a disconnect.

Turned it on and all back to normal.

I am definitely not getting brighter with time.

Thanks gang!
