I know it doesnít help your report. I assume youíve shot the hub with WD-40 or such?

We had the SAME issue in our 5th wheel living room ceiling fan.

Turned out to be a piece of Styrofoam inside the housing.

I'd read 5picker's post and see if there's something rubbing when running in reverse. Most likely anything that lubricating will help would also squeak in forward.

WD40 will turn to sticky varnish unless you keep reapplying it. Silicone wonít do much for a bearing (more likely a bushing). I would use Triflon or white lithium spray grease.

If itís a MaxxAir fan motors arenít terribly expensive and are easy to replace.

How old is it? Many of MaxxAirís products have two to six year warranties.

So... is this a ceiling fan (as the title states) or a vent fan in the 14" x 14" roof vent hole?

Woah! I missed that one! These same admonishment goes for trying to use WD40 as a lubricant though.

I hope you donít have any tall people in your group.
