SS21 ROO Slide Motor failure
I need to replace the slide out motor....any thoughts or hints on doing this?
Background: Used the slide out toggle switch to slide the module in the full out position. I left it for a while and when I returned I noticed a burning smell also heard the slide out motor trying to work. Went back to the slide out toggle switch and found that it had remained in the OUT position instead of resetting to the center position. Also the slide out motor was extremely hot. The switch also became hot and melted the connector on the back.
After speaking to the local Rockwood tech I eventually replaced the switch and reconnected the wires with automotive blade connectors since I couldn't find a replacement harness. I checked for the proper voltage at the switch and it was there. Verified that the 30 amp fuse was still good. Unfortunately, even after this the slide out motor only clicked when I tried the toggle switch..
I suspect that the slide out module is in the full out position so my next step was to ease the slide out Inward a slight bit so that motor could pick it up. Unfortunately, when I tried to use the manual return on the slide out motor transmission box the nut sheared off......which means that I the motor is frozen in place.....
I understand that the motor has electric brakes...if these are frozen the motor is no good - needs replacement.....
All the above was pretty straight forward....however the removal and replacement of the slide out motor maybe more of a challenge....
