Storage Charging
Is it recommended to have shore power on all the time during winter storage? It seems as though the chargers wouldn't over charge the batteries.

My 5er is plugged in for the winter and the WFCO 3-stage charger is floating the battery at an ideal 13.2V

I leave my trailer plugged in for the season to keep the fridge ready to go at a moments notice. I use a battery tender during the winter to keep the battery happy. It depends on whether your convertor is a 3 or 4 stage convertor or just a dumb charger. You could zonk a battery if it is just full charging all the time.

I thought about one of those small maintainer chargers that use solar but I was never really sure how well they worked.

I have 305 watts. Even charges with a couple inches of snow on panels!

 OK! Well that it a bit more than a 10watt solar maintainer... LOL 
I would do solar but I do not do enough boondocking at this point in my camping life.

I don't boondock except when traveling. What is nice, I run the heat at 45 and don't worry too much about winterizing. Plus in the summer, I can run a couple of the powered vents to help keep cooler. If I am doing any work in it I can have the TV on and lights and not kill my bats.

For those that use Solar, can I ask which one (model and size) you use to maintain the battery? I picked up our 26DBH last week - and it has the solar charging input - but I can't seem to find one that has the connection/end that matches the trailer. Also curious what size is best to simply maintain the battery while in storage?

Prior to getting solar, I used a small/cheap Harbor Freight 800 watt 2 stroke generator to charge the batteries once a month.
Sometimes I'd stop by the storage area and fire up the generator and come back 7-8 hours later and sometimes the wife would join me and we'd stay inside and have a movie date usually followed by an afternoon nap. Sometimes it is good to pretend to get away.
