Surge Guard coming unplugged
Good morning all. I have a 50 amp TRC Surge Guard that I plugged into the power pedestal. It ran its check and said all was good. When I plugged the RV cord to it, the extra weight of the cord pulling down on the Surge Guard slightly unplugged it from the pedestal. By slightly, I mean just barely enough to disconnect it. I noticed the receptacle in the pedestal is recessed enough to where when the large square part of the Surge Guard that rests against the lower part of the pedestal is pulled downward, such as with the weight of the cord, it slightly unplugs it. Since I'm brand new to RV'ing, is this unique to this campgrounds pedestals or is this a common thing? If it is common, then one solution would be a short piece of 50 amp to 50 amp cord so the Surge Guard would be lower, possibly on the ground or in a ventilated box to protect it against weather. I looked online in a few places and couldn't find such a cord commercially available. I guess I could get one made. Has anyone else had this problem?
