I bought my SP before I knew what the *#€¥ I was doing. Definitely not going buy the interior SP until that one bites the dust. As for the chains it is just a visual to make them think about it, my cordless reciprocating saw with the right blade can cut through 99% of the chains in under 20 seconds.

I could upload pictures of other security devices I use but it would take too long and with the knowledge just about every one of them is nothing more than a visual. Until I can hang my favorite sign by the TT when we camp it will have to do...."This trailer is protected by S&W 3 days a week, you guess which 3"

Sometimes a padlock will work on the pedestal cover. Mostly I just use a common bike cable/lock. Sometimes I camouflage so folks walking by never notice.

This will prevent a simple grab & go theft. Never had a problem...

Good point about the camouflage. I have a TRC with the LED display and it really stands out at night. I have tried to turn the SP so the LED display doesn't show, but it couldn't be done. I think I will try placing a piece of Duct or Duck tape across the LED display next time.

Of course if some low life SOB sees it during the day, then I am going to lose it anyway.

I second looking at the Progressive Industries unit. Small enough to hide/install in your cord compartment.

Install one like this inside a compartment.

This is a 50 amp version but they have 30 amp versions also.

As I mentioned some time ago here, the only problem I have with my TRC SP is its size and weight. I have no problem storing it in my front basement, but I do wish it was a bit smaller and lighter.

Here is mine. Bike cable is a darker gray so as not to be as easily seen. I didn't opt for the hardwired version but probably will for the next one, out of conveinience. Most campers are of the honest variety. If they steal it, they will have to work for it.

But to the actual question; yes I highly recommend a SP. You will have to choose which one is right for you.

My "portable" is now "permanently" installed inside the camper.

Pay a few bucks more and get the hard wired version... I just installed the Progressive 50amp with a remote display in my class A and now have peace of mind..... Buddy of mind lost about $8K worth of electronics in his MH before he realized how much he needed one....
