Surge protector
My new TT Apex 259BHSS has the following WFCO ULTRA III Distribution Center WF-8900. I have ordered a surge protector the Progressive Industries EMSHW30C hardwired style and plan to install it tomorrow. Looking at the power panel manual looks like one may be built in. States it has Reverse Battery Protection and Electronic Current Limiting. Whats your thoughts? Install the surge protector still as extra safety.

I have the same wfco.
Yes still put in ems surge.

I would. Don't see a reason why not have good protection.

Reverse battery protection is to protect the power center from YOU hooking up the battery backwards; not the AC at the pole.
Electronic current limiting prevents YOU from overloading the power center's DC converter by turning too much on.
Again, not anything to do with bad incoming power.

Surge protector installed. Tight working area so took a little longer than expected.

There are many stories of bad power on this site. I read Turbs post a few months ago, and used his idea of couplers on both sides of the hard wired surge protector. Finished the install yesterday. Thanks for the tip Turbs!

Reading many posts on here and need a hand. I installed the Progressive hw50-c EMS today on my 2013 Palomino Sabre and when I plugged the camper into my garage outlet for shore power, it immediately tripped the breaker in my garage. I have checked the wiring and I cannot see anything wrong. Any thing I should try?

Double check your wiring, pay special attention to the wiring on the line side(wiring from your plug end in the garage to the EMS. I would think if it were a problem on the load side the EMS wouldn't allow power through it but would not trip the garage breaker. If all looks good to you call Progressive.

Silly question maybe... But have you ever used your garage to run the rv? Mine (15amp circuit) will do all but my ac above medium I believe before tripping.

What else is on that outlet?
Could there be other items on that outlet's circuit be drawing power and limiting what is available for the camper?

It is a gfci outlet.i ha used outlet before, but only for charging while we pack.
