Check the capability of your RVs existing electrical system. It will likely have under voltage and overvoltage protection built in.

That's what I was wondering. There's no device on mine 5er that monitors high/low voltage. That's what the Progressive protector will do.

Know for a fact my unit doesn't, plus besides showing polarity and ground problems, there is nothing built in for any of that. Oh Yea I forgot it will tell you when all of a sudden nothing works anymore.

I shouldn't have said 'likely', rather 'might' have protection built in.
This is an excerpt from my converter manual, " Electronic current limiting automatically shuts down the power during overload or short-circuit conditions, protecting the life of your power center and electrical system."

This may be referring to the reverse polarity fuse(s). In case the battery is hooked up backwards.

That's what I'm thinking .
Has nothing to do with the 120v side.

I do know if I'm running the generator and shore power is hooked up my 5er will recognize it and shut the generator off. Likewise if I start the gen with shore power on the gen will run a few seconds and then shut back off.

As a quick side note, my PI hardwired is making a humming noise. It's always been dead quiet. I called them and it's prolly the power supply. They had me push the center actuator (spring loaded) down a few times to clear out any dirt \debris but that only made the PI hum louder. I swear I heard it hummin' Dixie...*s. So, when I get back home I'm sending it in for warranty repair. The sucker didn't even make two full seasons.
