Surge protector will not allow generator power to RV

I installed the progressive industries EMS-HW30C and it has been and still is working great when hooked up to power at a campground or shore power at home. I decided to buy a generator (powerhouse 3100ri ) and when hooked up to the RV the EMS sets code E2 ( open ground) and will not let power through. I suspect I am doing something wrong but am not sure what. There is a ground terminal on the front of the generator however I do not know where or if it needs to be connected to something.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
