Someone else on here just posted bout installing one of the PI units and I am in the process of getting this particular one. Expensive yes but IMO worth it.

This information is almost six months old (back when I purchased my unit) and I see that there is a new model of the SurgeGuard so anyone in the market for a surge suppressor may want to confirm that it is (or not) still the case.
I think the information is still correct for the portable Surge Guard 34730. The manual only talks about a "Miswired Pedestal Indication". I think they would have listed accidental 220v protection (not just indication) if that was the case. I did see that the portable 50amp unit will prevent power; but not the 30amp unit.

The new model of the 34730 adds an LCD screen. Don't think there were any other changes.

Thanks everyone for the great info, otherwise I would have never guessed there was so much involved. I do have one question though. I take delivery of my 2011 Salem 28BHSS this Saturday and was trying to get all the must have's before then. Does anyone know what service this trailer has 30 or 50 amp? I was so excited about buying it that I didn't even look. Plus it is an hour away. Thanks for any help.

I just ordered the pt30c as well. After looking at all the options of the surge protectors out there this one had it all. Like the features and especially the lifetime warranty where as the other brands only have a 1 year.

You will need a PDF reader installed to open a PDF file.

Adobe - Adobe Reader download - All versions

It is free. You DO NOT have to add the Google Chrome tool bar for it to work. It is an ad generator that pays adobe so they can give the reader away for free. Just remove the check mark from the little box before you download it.

Installed the Surgeguard 34520 the other day, was a heck of a lot easier then I thought. Took about an hour to install and only needed a three foot section of 10-2 wire from the hardware store. Got it at Camper World for just shy of $200.00.
