A neutral wire does not suddenly break. Incandescent bulbs increasing or decreasing intensity warn of that impending defect long before it fails.
Progressive is for anomalies more commonly found in campgrounds. To also protect from an anomaly called a surge, that Progressive must be a version that connects as close as possible to the pole. In every case, best solution is determined by reading specifications. Subjective recommendation can result in ineffective or wrong type of protection.

Well this is exact reason I have one It will tell me before It allows juice to flow. It checks for everything and then you still get 128 sec. time delay to let your A/C equalize before turning back on. Never had a surge so I can't say but if one happens it has a green lite that will come on and tell me, then I have to have it send it in to have the link replaced. I won't plug in without it.....

I'm seeing most of the people on here prefer the Progressive Industries EMS...
After reading the reviews on Amazon, I'm seeing only a few people that say the product either quit or didn't work for them....
Has anyone on here had any issue with them?...
Also, has anyone heard about rain / water damage by having the unit out in a storm?

I've heard of two units that failed.
Lifetime warranty so no big deal!

Unless you are one of the two....
I'd be kind of upset if I was on the Oregon coast in a rain storm and I came back to the M/H after hiking all afternoon and I find my $250 surge / voltage protector had turned off and my camper was cold and dark because my heater ran my battery dead and my fridge turned off and my beer was warm...
Highly unlikely but you'd find my $250 unit in the garbage can about 15 minutes after that.

Wasn't mine, I've had one for 5 years with no issues.
Anytime you have something that fails please send it to me before you throw it away!
I don't understand your logic whatsoever.

There would be no logic in paying $250 for something that wouldn't work... I'd simply throw it out... but that's just me.
However I'm interested enough to buy one, so I just ordered it from Amazon. I will use it on my up-coming summer trips.
I'll let you know how far it makes it...

I heard someone shorted his out by letting it sit face up so water went inside the plug but he might have been messing with it at the time and water accidentally poured in. I think if his cord was plugged in at the time that might not have happened.
I opted for the portable unit and have a plastic bag on it with a hole in the bag for the plug to go thru it. I used mine this winter and that worked okay, the cover on the pedestal also gave cover to deflect the drops of water.

I also have a cable and lock on mine so crummy thieves don't walk off with it. And I was glad I had that because last time out camping it would not stay plugged in from all the weight of it just kept unplugging itself from the pedestal. I was able to wrap the cable around it to lock it into the pedestal.

or just turn the by-pass on on the remote for the hardwired unit and keep on trucking.

If it ever stops working, just send it back and get a new one.

Had mine out in many a storm.. Never a problem.
If yours stops working and TURBS doesn't get it... I'll take it and make sure it is "properly recycled" wink wink..

Mine worked, but maybe some would say it failed, last summer in 105 degree heat. It shut off power to the TT. After maintenance finally showed up, it turned out to be a bad receptacle on the pole. Glad I had that unit. I sweated for a few hours. But my TT a/c didn't fry, and neither did anything else. It just shut down till it was ok to work again.
I think it's female, like that.
But it works.
