I have been looking at generators, prices, models. I have arrived at the
Boliy generator, manual start. The price is right but is the quality there as the dealer says?
Any comments will be greatly appreciated before I spend my hard earned $$$$$$$$

I don't have an answer for you, but I've been looking at them too. The specs are right in line with an RV'ers needs and the price really is great. If you buy one let us know how it works out for you.

I have a 7000 watt gennie that we use and its loud like you would expect but we only camp 3 times a year on private property where everyone has loud gennies.

they've had thousands of posts about the Boliy over the past 5 years.
there has been at least 3-4 generation versions, since it first came on the market.
i think most of the early issues have been corrected.
how much is your dealer asking for it?

We have the electric start model. No problems so far (only one season with maybe 20 hours on it). Electric start is a cheap option and well worth it, in my opinion.
I too have looked at the Boily generator. Specs on the motor are almost identical to the Yamaha EF2400i. The outside case looks to be nearly identical as well. Dry weights are nearly identical. I am pretty sure the Boily was pirated from the Yamaha EF-2400i. There is a youtube video of the Boily running as well as a Yamaha EF2400i. The Boily seems very comparble in noise level to the Yamaha. I can tell you that the Yamaha is very quiet because I have one. I have toyed around with the idea of getting a Boily for a little more capacity. I do love my Yamaha though.
Go to the BOLIY web site. They dropped the price $209.00, the old price was $1199.00 for the manual start, the new price is $990.00, includes cover, shipping to lower 48.
I also have been researching Boliy generators. They have been around for 5-7 years and have advanced the basic 3600 and 3600 electric start alot. Back a few years they had issues with gas caps leaking, connectors coming apart but I havingt heard anything about the engines failing or the solid state converter failing.
The units weigh 70-78 lbs and cost between $990 and $1,090 for the electric start model.
They are rated at 3,000 watts and can handle start up suges greater than 3,000 for I think 15 seconds. Noise level is the same as Honda and Yamaha. You can see video on the sound levels on YouTube.
The weight is half of the Honda EU3000is (143 lbs dry) and $1,000 instead of $2,000 plus for the Honda. It only has a 1.9 gal fuel tank and for me that is just what I need. Under full load 3,000 watts it says it will run 4-5 hrs. Much more for less loads and in Economy mode.
Many have modified the fuel system and added marine fuel tanks to gravity feed fuel.
The exterior is plastic and metal and most are bright red in color.
The new 2012 models have the silver gas cap and metal fuel tank and the older ones have a black plastic cap and plastic fuel tank. Also the new ones have a metal bar around the pull cord to protect the choke handle from getting hit.
Anyone have and more first hand reports on their operations?

We have a 2400 watt so that I have enough power to run my refrigerator and boiler at home when we loose power. It was quiet enough that the time we had to run it overnight, it was about 20 feet from our bedroom window and you could barely hear it run.
I guess what I am saying is that as long as the quality is there, I would be comfortable buying one of the "off" brands.

I'm close in buing mine soon. I have read many reviews and the quality has changed since they first starting selling in I think 2005.

Anyway I just ordered the Boliy Pro3600Si generator for $990 from the California location. Being it was a backup unit for the RV I decided not to get the electric start. That will be a few less parts to worry about and almost 10 lbs lighter.
The nice thing was they (CA) had PayPal and the others just had CC.
Free shipping and no tax.
Now all we can do is wait and see how long DHL shipping will take.
I spent weeks deciding which gennie to buy. I finally bit the bullet and got a Honda 6500 with all the bells and whistles. It rides in the bed of our truck up against the cab. At a rest area, with it running it cannot be heard even in the forward bedroom of our 5th wheel. I would have loved to get one that runs on LP but Honda does not offer a factory multi-fuel version. There is an aftermarket company who makes a tri-fuel adapter but it voids the Honda warranty. I bought the Honda on-line from an outfit in a Chicago suburb, no tax, free shipping and a great price.
I Just got an email that the genereator will be mailed FedEX tomorrow and should be here by Monday or Tuesday next week. That is from the location in San Diego CA.
Now that is nice and fast. I will keep you posted.

The more I serch the more I read about the older Boliy generators and their problems. Seems the old plastic gas tank and black plastic gas cap was a major problem. I also read those original ones had wire connectors hot together and not allowing the battery to charge. They all got their units fixed but interesting reading.
The new 2012 Version 7 that is out now has the chrome gas cap, metal gas tank and a new invertor box as well as better engine mounts.
When I get mine in a few days I will check it out and report back. I may even do a video for you all.
