Smile Trailer does not work on battery

I just purchased a 2004 Rockwood 5th wheel 8283SS. Got home and no power in the trailer from the battery. Everything works when connected to 110 volts or truck. This is all new to me. I checked and the battery appears to have power. Where can a find wiring diagrams and diagnostics?

You might have a battery disconnect switch somewhere that is pushed in.
Check close to your breaker/fuse box, a round switch that can be pushed in or pulled out.
For the battery to work in needs to be pulled out.

You can't find wiring diagrams or diagnostic help because there aren't any.

Also check battery voltage when unplugged and plugged in. Voltage at the battery should go up (about 13.5VDC) if the battery charger is working.

What is current battery voltage.

X-2 - Battery "has power" is non-specific. Voltage across the battery terminals MUST be 13.5 volts or more when plugged in for the battery to be "connected" to the converter's distribution panel.

There is a current limiter covered with a red cover BEHIND the battery box that protects the battery from shorts.

You reset it by pressing a button on one of the short sides.

Thank you! I found a device like you describe on the circuit close to the battery. There was a button on the back, I pushed it and everything works. If this is just a single occurrence, no problem, but I will need to be concerned if it continues to happen. There is a similar device on the wire coming from the battery. No button on the back of it. Any idea what this might be?

Thanks again.

Without a photo my guess is an autoreset fuse for your landing gear. They were switched from the fast blow type a few years ago.

It may be in a household junction box under trailer. Follow wires to underbelly
there should be an access hole in the underbelly.

In a travel trailer the current limiter you are looking for is located near the umbilical attachment junction box under the frame.
