I just bought my trailer. I will installing an ACR(Voltage sensitive relay) on the input to my trailer to prevent this from occurring.

I have one of these on each of my boats. The smaller one linked here is for my pontoon and the bigger one that is 120A for my Wellcraft.

You can just install a relay under the hood that is energized by a switched power wire in the TV. When it closes, it connects the TV to the 7-pin's aux power wire. Shut off the ignition and it opens the relay contacts and disconnects the TT from the TV. $7.50 to $15 depending on what relay you buy. Most any auto parts store carries them, or here's one:

My 3500 Silverado has two batteries and one is just used for starting the truck. It's supposed to be run down protecting or that's what it said in the manual

Really? What year? My 2014 says no such thing (unless I missed it, slim as that might be).

I ran both flat with a GPS on accident a few weeks ago.

I have a 2012 Silverado 3500 and I have left my Garmin on overnight plus my TST on. I think after a time the truck shuts down the the battery drain. I can't run down my starter battery from things that are left plugged in.

I had tapped an always hot in the overhead for my GPS and furrion backup camera. I'm unsure of my meter, but it seemed the GPS was pulling a couple amps (can't be right, but obviously was too much).

I have an inductive charger and Bluetooth obd on all the time. Gps and screen are now keyed.

I don't think it does the load shedding like that, but can't prove it. Would be nice to know for sure. I obviously want using the auxiliary power port (cigarette lighter).

This is what the manual says:

Battery Rundown Protection/Inadvertent Power
The body control module (BCM) inadvertent power supply voltage circuit provides battery positive voltage to all of the interior reading lamps, visor vanity mirror lamps, and cargo lamps if equipped. In the event that any of these lamps were to remain illuminated for a period of more than 10 minutes with the ignition switch in the OFF position, the BCM will deactivate the inadvertent power supply voltage circuit to prevent a total battery discharge condition.

Doesn't do anything for the power to the 7 pin connector or the cigarette lighter outputs.

Look for Battery Power Protection and Retained Accessory Power. (Actually, I just searched for "10 minutes.")

Lots of discussion in my 2016 Silverado 2500HD manual. My 2011 and 2017 Traverses do the same thing. I'm guessing it's a pretty standard GM thing.

But as noted above, trailer aux power is not included.

No lights is one thing; Not stopping in the distance you expect is a whole nother level of pucker factor.

Pretty much standard on all vehicles in the last number of years. But, it does not include the cigarette lighter or any "hot" connection.
