Transfer switch alternative?

The transfer switch in my 2011 Berkshire gave up the ghost, and had it not been in a metal enclosure probably would have reduced the coach to ashes, judging by the scorching on the covers backside, the copper conductors were melted even.

FR tells me this is the same one they still use, has anyone else made a change to another brand?

Without seeing the unit it's hard to be 100% sure, but the problem was most likely caused by loose connections and not the ATS design or build.

There are many ATS' on the market, so you can no doubt find one that you feel comfortable with.

Disclaimer on the front "Non emergency applications" says it all. Don't trust it.

There are many residential transfer switches you could replace it with. Onan for example. https://powersuite.cummins.com/PS5/P...AS-5810-EN.pdf

We used some like this in broadcast Live Eye trucks. The best solution is switches. Manual will work for ever and most installations I have been involved with are just that. One switch to move between shore power and generator

I just installed one of these in my Pursuit:

http://www.amazon.com/Esco-LPT50BRD-.../dp/B008VF91ME

Seems to be well made, uses DC relays so it should be pretty quiet (no buzzing), and I checked to make sure all the connections were torqued tightly (both mine and the ones made at the factory).
