Trying new 921 LED bulb replacements

Hey all --

I've ordered a pair of these 921 bulb replacements for our Shockwave 5er. The product that I got is:

Once I get them, I'll take some pictures of the existing lights, install these next to an existing bulb and all that. I'll also see how it rates on the wife factor as well which is really important. So either way I hope to help out someone that is looking to replace some of their 921 bulbs with LEDs.

I just ordered some and expect them to arrive this week. Unfortunately my rig is in storage 600 miles away waiting for me to pick it up in January on my way to Florida. I'll install them when I get there. One thing I've heard is that some of the less expensive LED bulbs cause TV interference. After you get them check your TV reception before you install them and check your TV again and see if you have any problems with the LED's lit.

Ah, great info. I will take a look at that when I get them and report on that as well. I only ordered two so I hope that if there is a problem it will show up with 1 or 2 bulbs installed and not after I go all out and buy 20 for the whole rig.

Got the two led bulbs today. Went to the trailer and installed them. They are brighter than the incandescent bulbs and more white. The regular bulbs are very yellow. These are much closer to white. No blue tint that I could detect so that's good. I hate the blue tint, would prefer a slight yellow tint. Will be buying more of these to outfit the rest of the trailer now. I also checked the tv reception to make sure they didn't interfere with the signal.

Last night I ended up buying a 10 pack of these as well as a 10 pack of the super bright ones I talked about last night.

Here is my thought process... The super bright ones are good, but someone mentioned that they installed the brighter ones in areas that needed the bright light like the bathroom, over the sink, etc. I think thats a good idea so I got the slightly dimmer ones as well to put in the main living areas. I'm hoping that they're the same brightness as the bulbs that are in there now. Also, the bright ones use 3 watts of power, the slightly dimmer ones use 1.5 watts. The areas we use the most are where the 1.5 watt ones will be so I thought I'd use half the power of the bright ones on the high use areas and save the bright ones for bathroom, etc. They're shipped from Amazon so if I don't like them I'll just easily return them. I'll also put the bright ones in the storage compartment, etc. I spent a few extra dollars and got ones that were rated from 12v to 28v AC or DC. My thinking there was that voltage fluctuations between 11 and 14 volts won't have any effect on it since it's rated up to 28v. We will see how they turn out and how long they last - as well as how hot they get. I'll be using them a lot and watching them close. Amazon says I'll have them on Saturday so I'll get them installed this weekend. Will report back with my findings. I'll also take some pictures and post those as well. Hoping this can help someone else make the decisions on these easier. I researched for about a week before I purchased.

I replaced all of the bulbs in the trailer. The dimmer ones (24-3528) were the same color temperature as the existing bulbs and put off about the same amount of light. So I would say that if you're looking to replace the bulbs with the same look and feel, these are the bulbs to get.

In the bathroom, I used the brighter ones (24-5050) and they're quite a bit brighter than the standard bulbs and the color is very much on the white side. They're not blue at all, just white. The dimmer ones are much more on the yellow side just like the incandescent bulbs that I'm replacing. I put the bright ones in the bathroom, bedroom, and storage compartments. The dimmer ones are in the main living areas since they're half the power (1.5 watts for the dimmer ones and 3 watts for the bright ones). The living area lights will be on the most and for the longest amount of time so I opted to go for the equivalent replacement which would use half the power as the brighter ones.

Hope this helps someone out when they're thinking about choosing..

My wife and I went to the trailer once it was completely dark outside and turned the lights on in the main living area. The amount of light was great, and the color temperature was great as well - slightly whiter than the incandescent bulbs we replaced which I really like. Completely happy with the 24-3528 lights in the main living areas. ..and my wife is really happy with them too. :-)

Thank you so much for posting your recent experience with these LEDs. I'm shopping around for what to get to replace all the incandescent interior lights in our trailer and the choices are overwhelming. To have a recommendation is so helpful

Hey there.. Thanks for the reply. I may have been able to get them much cheaper from some vendor in China but they were knowns and I didn't want a hassle if I wanted to return them. Now that I know that I like them I may try the China vendors if I need to get more.

No worries! I don't mind paying more to get them through Amazon (I love Amazon), we have another trip planned very soon and I don't want to worry about whether they'll make it to me in time

I just installed 15 of them yesterday that I got on Ebay. All of them worked great. Big difference in brightness. Went with the warm white.

Ordered a ten pack for the living area, and a two pack of the brighter ones for above the sink and mirror.

The LEDs arrived yesterday and I installed today. As stated above they are a simple plug and play. The 3528s appear to be the same brightness as the standard bulbs, and the 5050s, that I used in the bathroom above the mirror and sink are a big improvement !

I bought 10 of the 24-3528's from Amazon. This was my third attempt at LED lights for the Roo. The first were way too dim, the second batch that we used for over a year were on the blue tint color & not really bright enough. When I put the 3528's in I told my wife to go & check the trailer. She was thrilled with how well these look. I had to order 10 more to get the job done all of the way. Thanks for the advise on this forum. I really appreciate the information on this.

I don't mean to spend your money for you :-) but you should try a couple of those 24-5050 ones as well in your bathroom. My wife loves them... and you'll love them in your storage areas. They're very bright and very white without any blue tint. My wife wanted them in the bathroom and the bedroom where she gets ready and I have to admit, I'm really happy I got those as well. So happy I went with the two different styles of these for the different areas. Glad this stuff helped some others out. I love these forums for that type of thing.
