turning light problem

Greetings from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada.
We have a 2006 Surveyor travel trailer which we have had from new. The problem I am having this year is that my left turn signal is not working all the time. I have tried the bulb in the other outlet and it works fine. I have also taken the working bulb and tried it to no avail. The running lights work and previously if I were to wiggle the bulb around it would work but now that does not work either. I had noticed some rust build up in the bulb outlet but managed to file that off but there was no change. Not sure if this may just be a bulb outlet issue??

It is most likely a problem with the ground connection if a good bulb fails to work.

Thank-you for that information. Do you think the ground problem would be at the main plug in connection or somewhere in between the main connection and the light it self. I have a 12volt tester just not sure where to start

As you said that only the left turn signal is a problem so no reason to suspect the ground on the camper's 7 pin plug. I'd be concentrating of the left light fixture...checking all connections, cleaning, etc.

I would check the connections at the tow vehicle. I had a similar problem a couple yrs back and it turned out to be a bad splice for the 7 way. If they used those splice connectors (the ones that cut thru the insulation then clamp) they can corrode over the years. The way I found mine was the signal light would not blink but the bulbs was good and I could pull the bulbs and get voltage.
They also make up the ground wire this way. Just something to check if u have problems locating the problem on the trailer.
